Don’t Stage Me Bro!

A plugin for us.

Blake and I (Josh) use WP Engine hosting for the majority of our client sites. There are many things we love about WP Engine, but one of the features that originally got us excited about them was the staging feature available for all of their installs.

With this feature, you can create a complete staging version of your website with a single click. In seconds you have a version of your site that is safe for managing updates and modifications.

However, with the two of us working on the same sites, we would occassionally run into times where we weren’t sure whether or not it was ok to overwrite an existing staging site. This simple plugin let’s us know at a glance whether or not it is ok to overwrite the existing staging site.

A plugin for our clients

We weren’t only worried about stepping on each others toes. We have some clients that also like to utilize their staging sites for managing content updates.

Ocassionally, site maintenance or development sprints may overlap times when the client is working on their content. Our “Don’t Stage Me Bro” plugin helps to make sure we don’t completely lose the clients content by overwriting their staging sites.
